That looks like a stable where Jesus must have been born. Mary, Joseph and the animals do also take part in this kind of manger that was first introduced by Saint Assis in the Christmas Eve of the year 1224. After celebrating a mass in front of the Manger, Saint Assis started a tradition that has been spread around the world for Centuries.

The images of the Three Kings began to be introduced in the manger around the 15th Century. In Brazil the first images appeared by the hands of the Portuguese by the year 1752.

Pequena representação de um estábulo onde teria nascido Jesus, que conta ainda com as figuras de Maria, José e animais, o presépio foi introduzido na véspera de Natal de 1224 por São Francisco de Assis. Após celebrar uma missa em frente a esse presépio, São Francisco acabou dando início a uma tradição que se difundiu século após Século.

As imagens dos Reis Magos somente começaram a aparecer nos presépios por volta do Século XV. No Brasil, as primeiras imagens, provenientes de Portugal, chegaram em 1752.
